In the Bajag tehsil, our weaver's community has a longstanding tradition of weaving, primarily catering to the needs of the Baiga tribe. Representing diverse communities such as Panika (OBC), Jhariya (SC), and Chandrawanshi (OBC), we, the women members, have played a pivotal role in this weaving ecosystem. While some of us have continuously practised the art of weaving, many have traditionally assumed ancillary roles, providing support to the male weavers.
With the establishment of Bajaloom, we have embarked on a transformative journey. Committed to honing our skills as artisans, we have taken on the role of weavers ourselves. Through dedication and perseverance, many of us have delved into the process of learning and mastering the art of weaving. As a result of our efforts, we take pride in presenting to you a diverse array of handwoven textiles, each reflecting the rich heritage and craftsmanship of our community.
From Backstage to Spotlight
In our quest to take centre stage, we are embracing the art of weaving. We are participating in weaving training sessions to enhance our skills. We aspire to craft products that draw inspiration from our environment, reflecting the essence of our culture. Throughout the past, we have specialized in crafting saris specifically tailored to the unique tastes of the Baiga communities. Our history, marked by resilience and the enduring spirit of its people, continues to inspire efforts towards sustainable development and cultural preservation in this unique part of Madhya Pradesh.
